Simple, well built and a great first smoker, August 11, 2010 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Smokin-It Model 2 Electric Smoker You can't beat this product for price, quality, ease of use, service or results. I researched many electric smokers before I bought this one and was a bit worried because it was the low end of the price scale (you get what you pay for). I was thrilled to be wrong about this one. It's dead simple to use. Insert wood chunks, insert meat, close door and turn on. One simple dial is all the electronics on the smoker. The temperature is accurate, the smoker is stainless steel and well insulated (you can lean on it even when it is smoking on high heat)and the results are delicious. I've smoked everything from garlic to pulled pork. It will hold a decent sized (15-18 lb) turkey and has enough racks to hold a half dozen chickens. I could go on and on. It's great. Get a digital thermometer to drop down through the smoke hole and into the meat and just ignore it until the thermometer beeps. Then eat the best meat you've ever made!

I give it 5 stars for value and quality. It is equivalent to another excellent insulated, stainless steel smoker, the Smokin Tex 1400, that retails for $195 more (not including shipping). To call it sturdy is an understatement...it's a tank! It's well finished and works like a charm. I've had the best results I've ever achieved after 10+ years of smoking with inferior electric water smokers and charcoal smokers. The insulation and press fit steel door make all the difference. The only flaw I've found in this smoker is the positioning of the thermostat..it's placed very low in the smoker (close to the burner) and as a result the smoker (at least mine) runs about 7 degrees lower than it should at the top rack positions. I discovered this by placing a thermometer on the top racks. That said, it's not caused me any trouble since I started running the controller at 235 to get closer to the 225 temp... Read more

I started looking at the Smokin-It #2. After reading the reviews on this smoker, I decided to go with the Smokin-It. I couldn't be more pleased. The quality is excellent. It is roomier than I expected. The Smokin-It replaced an old Meco Water smoker. My first effort was baby back ribs. When my wife tasted the ribs, she said, "Could the smoker make this much difference?" It does, because the ribs were some of the best I ever tasted. You can spend a lot more money if you want to, but believe me this smoker will give you what you want with money left in your pocket.
